Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Inaugurates ‘Shaurya Gatha’ Complex in Karnah, Kupwara

SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Thursday inaugurated the ‘Shaurya Gatha’ Complex at SM Hill in the Tangdhar area of Karnah, Kupwara district. The complex is designed to promote battlefield tourism, preserve military heritage, and stimulate development in border regions.

Information was available with The Chenab Times that the Lieutenant Governor addressed the gathering, stating the complex is dedicated to the courage and sacrifices of Indian soldiers who laid down their lives for the nation. He emphasized that their bravery should serve as an inspiration for citizens and a source of pride for future generations.

Sinha commended the Northern Command, Chinar Corps, Army personnel, engineers, workers, and local residents for their collective efforts in completing the project within a limited timeframe. He highlighted that the ‘Shaurya Gatha’ Complex is expected to generate opportunities for battlefield tourism in the border region. Furthermore, it is anticipated to support employment generation through initiatives such as homestays, promotion of local handicrafts, and fostering youth entrepreneurship.

The Lieutenant Governor noted that Jammu and Kashmir is currently experiencing peace, prosperity, and accelerated development. He contrasted this with Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir, which he stated continues to suffer from neglect and inadequate governance. Reaffirming Jammu and Kashmir as an integral part of India, Sinha asserted that the people are experiencing a renewed sense of confidence and progress.

He reiterated the administration’s commitment to the development of border areas. Projects under the Bharat Rannbhoomi Darshan programme are intended to bolster economic growth in the Tangdhar-Karnah region and to showcase the area’s defense heritage and cultural significance. Additionally, seven villages in the Tangdhar-Karnah region have been incorporated into the Vibrant Village Programme, with the aim of improving infrastructure, enhancing livelihood opportunities, and raising living standards for residents.

In a discussion on connectivity, Sinha mentioned the proposed Sadhna Tunnel. This infrastructure project is expected to enhance security, improve connectivity, and stimulate economic activity by providing all-weather access. The tunnel is also anticipated to facilitate trade, improve access to healthcare and education, and bolster disaster response capabilities in the region.

Among the dignitaries present at the inauguration were Pratik Sharma, Balbir Singh, Ashish Chandra Verma, Anshul Garg, along with senior Army officers, civil administration officials, and personnel from the police and security forces.
