Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha conducted an on-site inspection of the Hazratbal Shrine in Srinagar on Saturday to oversee preparations for the upcoming Eid-ul-Adha festival. The visit focused on ensuring the availability of essential services and facilities for devotees during the auspicious occasion.
The Chenab Times has learned that the Lieutenant Governor was accompanied by a delegation of senior officials, including Dr. Syed Darakhshan Andrabi, Chairperson of the Jammu and Kashmir Waqf Board; Mufti Reyaz ul Haq, Chief Imam of the Hazratbal Shrine; Anshul Garg, Divisional Commissioner Kashmir; Rajiv Omprakashn, DIG CKR; Dr. GV Sundeep Chakravarthy, SSP Srinagar; Akshay Labroo, Deputy Commissioner Srinagar; and Faz Lul Haseeb, Municipal Commissioner Srinagar. Officials from various line departments were also present during the review.
During the visit, Lieutenant Governor Sinha meticulously reviewed the arrangements being put in place for the smooth conduct of the festival. Particular attention was given to the provision of adequate water supply, sanitation services, and reliable electricity. He stressed the importance of diligence in carrying out all arrangements to ensure a seamless experience for worshippers.
Addressing the gathering, the Lieutenant Governor highlighted the spiritual significance of the festival. “The festival reminds us of the virtues of humility and charity, inspiring us to dedicate ourselves to the greater good of humanity,” he stated. He further assured that the administration would ensure that the celebration is not only well-organized but also marked by devotion and festive fervor, contributing to a truly grand observance.
The review also included discussions on traffic management and crowd control measures, essential for handling the large number of devotees expected at the shrine. Senior spiritual leaders, Waqf Board officials, prominent citizens, and senior officers from the police and civil administration were also in attendance, participating in the review and offering their insights.
The administration has committed to ensuring that all necessary facilities are functional and accessible, reflecting the importance of the occasion for the community. The focus remains on providing a conducive and spiritual environment for devotees to observe their religious duties during Eid-ul-Adha. The coordinated efforts of various departments aim to uphold the sanctity of the event while managing the logistical requirements of a large public gathering.
