Doda MLA Mehraj Malik Writes to LG Manoj Sinha Seeking Restoration of Escort Security

Doda, June 4, 2026: Mehraj Malik, Member of the Legislative Assembly from Doda and State President of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in Jammu & Kashmir, has written to Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha requesting the immediate restoration of his escort vehicle, citing serious security concerns.

In an official letter dated June 4, 2026 (D.O. No: MLA/DODA/2026/168), addressed to the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor, Malik stated that his security escort was recently withdrawn despite previous representations to the authorities.

“I respectfully submit that I am serving as the MLA Doda and State President of Aam Aadmi Party, Jammu & Kashmir, and have been facing serious security concerns owing to my public and political engagements across the Union Territory,” the letter reads.

Malik highlighted that the withdrawal of the escort vehicle has exposed him to considerable risk, particularly given the nature of his responsibilities, frequent public interactions, and extensive travel. “The retention of the escort vehicle is essential for ensuring my safety and enabling me to discharge my public duties effectively,” he added.

The AAP leader mentioned that the matter had already been brought to the notice of concerned authorities through written communications, but no action had been taken so far. He requested the Lieutenant Governor’s intervention for the immediate restoration or retention of the escort vehicle.

Sharing the letter on social media, Mehraj Malik wrote:
“Have again written to Hon’ble LG J&K as my escort and security has been removed.”
He tagged the Office of the Lieutenant Governor and LG Manoj Sinha.

This issue comes at a time when several other MLAs in Jammu & Kashmir have raised similar concerns regarding the withdrawal or downgrading of their security escorts in recent months.

The letter has been copied to the Secretary, Home Department, for information and necessary action.

As of now, there has been no official response from the Lieutenant Governor’s office or the Home Department regarding Malik’s request.
