Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu launched the final phase of the induction stove distribution initiative for Anganwadi centers across the state on Saturday, June 20, 2026. The launch event took place in Linganguntla village of Chilakaluripet constituency in Palnadu district.
The initiative, which aims to equip over 55,000 Anganwadi centers with energy-efficient 1,200-watt induction stoves, is part of the National Efficient Cooking Programme. This program is being implemented in partnership with the Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL), a joint venture under the Ministry of Power. The program is being highlighted by the Union Ministry of Women and Child Development as a national model for best practices in public welfare and infrastructure efficiency.
The shift to induction cooking is expected to significantly enhance energy efficiency, reduce carbon emissions, and improve safety standards in Anganwadi centers. Officials estimate that induction cooking is approximately 30 percent more energy-efficient than traditional LPG methods. This initiative aligns with the state government’s broader strategy to promote clean energy and sustainable practices.
During his visit to Linganguntla village, Chief Minister Naidu also participated in the ‘Swachh Andhra–Swarna Andhra’ and ‘Annadata Sukhibhava’ programs. He engaged with local community members and inspected the Anganwadi center, underscoring the government’s commitment to improving social welfare and infrastructure.
The Andhra Pradesh government has been actively promoting energy efficiency, with power utilities reportedly saving around ₹190 crore between January and June 2026 due to strategic interventions and the adoption of advanced technologies. The state has also demonstrated its capacity to meet peak power demand, even during periods of extreme heat, by leveraging renewable energy generation and energy-efficiency measures.
This large-scale induction stove distribution program makes Andhra Pradesh the first state in the country to undertake such a comprehensive clean cooking initiative for its Anganwadi centers on a saturation basis. The program’s implementation model is garnering attention from the Union women and child development ministry for its potential to be replicated nationwide.
