Jammu and Kashmir ACB summons 552 Fire Service recruits for height test amid 2020 recruitment probe

Srinagar, August 3: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) of Jammu and Kashmir has summoned 552 candidates provisionally selected for the Fire and Emergency Services (F&ES) Department in the 2020 recruitment drive for a mandatory height measurement test. This exercise is part of an ongoing investigation into alleged irregularities in the selection process.

Information was available with The Chenab Times that the ACB, through a communication from the Senior Superintendent of Police, Police Station ACB Central, Jammu, has directed the selected candidates to report for the height measurement test scheduled for August 3. The probe is linked to FIR No. 01/2025, registered at the ACB Central Police Station in Jammu.

The Director General of the Fire & Emergency Services, Jammu and Kashmir, has been instructed to inform and direct the selected candidates, who are currently posted or deployed in various districts, to appear at designated venues by 10:00 AM sharp. The ACB aims to verify the physical parameters of these recruits as part of its investigation into the 2020 selection process.

The selected candidates have been directed to report at specific locations across the Union Territory. In the Jammu region, 82 candidates selected from Jammu, Kathua, and Samba districts are to report at DPL Jammu. Similarly, 38 candidates from Rajouri and Poonch districts will appear at DPL Rajouri, while 29 candidates from Udhampur and Reasi districts are scheduled for DPL Udhampur. Doda, Kishtwar, and Ramban districts’ candidates are to report at DPL Doda.

For the Kashmir Valley, 130 candidates from Srinagar, Budgam, and Ganderbal districts have been called to PCR/DPL Srinagar. A total of 124 candidates from Baramulla, Bandipora, and Kupwara districts will report at DPL Baramulla. Lastly, 93 candidates from Anantnag, Shopian, Pulwama, and Kulgam districts are to appear at DPL Anantnag. The ACB has also enclosed a district-wise list of candidates with its communication to facilitate the process.

The height measurement test is a crucial step in the ACB’s ongoing investigation, which seeks to ascertain the integrity of the recruitment process that took place in the Fire & Emergency Services Department in 2020. The bureau is meticulously examining all aspects of the selection to ensure fairness and transparency.
