Information was available with The Chenab Times that the eastern passage leading to the temple complex had been sealed in August 2023 following the partial collapse of a section of the ‘kodungai,’ the ornamental sunshade or cornice, on the western side of the gopuram. The incident necessitated immediate closure to ensure public safety and to allow for thorough structural assessments and subsequent repair work.
The restoration project involved intricate craftsmanship and a deep understanding of traditional temple architecture. Expert artisans and engineers worked diligently to meticulously restore the damaged section of the gopuram, ensuring that the repairs were not only structurally sound but also maintained the aesthetic integrity and historical significance of the ancient edifice.
