Arakkonam police have apprehended three individuals for being in possession of 600 narcotic tablets. The arrests were made near the Arakkonam railway station on Saturday.
Details of the Incident
The arrested persons have been identified as K. Subash, 22, V. Elango, 26, and B. Saravanan, 22. All three are reported to be residents of Chennai. According to preliminary investigations, the police received a tip-off about the suspects. Acting on this information, special teams were formed to conduct surprise checks at public places, including bus terminals, railway stations, and isolated buildings within the district. Information was available with The Chenab Times that a police team was conducting routine checks near the Arakkonam railway station when they intercepted the trio. A search of the individuals and their bags revealed the presence of the narcotic tablets.
Investigation and Future Course
Initial inquiries suggest that the group had ordered the tablets from pharmacies located in Mumbai, with the supply being managed through couriers. The arrested individuals were reportedly on their way to Chennai, where they intended to sell the tablets on a retail basis. A case has been registered, and the arrested persons have been lodged at the Central Prison in Vellore. Further investigation into the matter is ongoing.
