The Coven has secured worldwide distribution rights for the directorial debut of Michael Schwarz, titled ‘The Only One,’ a slasher film set to premiere at the Brooklyn Horror Film Festival. The acquisition comes as the film gears up for its debut screening this month.
The Chenab Times has learned that ‘The Only One’ is being positioned as a homage to the slasher genre’s golden eras of the 1980s and 1990s, featuring prominent roles for strong female characters. The film stars Mel Jarnson, known for her role in ‘Street Fighter,’ as the central protagonist, Zoe.
The narrative of ‘The Only One’ follows Zoe as she navigates a terrifying ordeal, with the film aiming to deliver a fresh take on familiar horror tropes. Saphira Moran also features in a key role, rounding out the film’s central cast.
Schwarz, who also penned the screenplay, has drawn inspiration from classic horror films, aiming to blend suspenseful storytelling with visceral scares. The film’s premiere at the Brooklyn Horror Film Festival provides a high-profile platform for its introduction to audiences and industry professionals.
‘The Only One’ is expected to draw interest from genre enthusiasts and distributors alike, given the enduring popularity of the slasher subgenre and the festival’s reputation for showcasing emerging talent and innovative horror filmmaking.
