Andhra Pradesh: Padma Awards 2027 Nominations Invited Online, June 3 Deadline Set for Documents

The Ministry of Home Affairs has commenced the online invitation process for nominations for the Padma Awards 2027, with a specific deadline set for the submission of supporting documents. In Visakhapatnam, the Society for Education, Training and Vocational Studies (SETVIS) has informed applicants of a June 3 cut-off date for submitting required materials.

Online Portal for Padma Awards Nominations

The central government, through the Ministry of Home Affairs, is accepting nominations for the prestigious Padma Awards through the Rashtriya Puraskar Portal. This initiative aims to streamline the nomination process and ensure transparency in the selection of recipients for one of India’s highest civilian honours. The portal serves as a central hub for all aspects of the nomination, from submission to review.

The Rashtriya Puraskar Portal is designed to facilitate the collection of nominations from citizens, institutions, and state governments across the country. It allows for detailed submissions, including biographical data, achievements, and supporting evidence, which are crucial for the evaluation committee. The early opening of nominations for the 2027 awards allows ample time for thorough consideration and verification of candidates.

SETVIS Sets June 3 Deadline for Document Submission

In line with the national timeline, the Society for Education, Training and Vocational Studies (SETVIS), an organisation based in Visakhapatnam, has announced its internal deadline for the submission of application documents. Aspiring nominees who are being facilitated by SETVIS are required to submit a photocopy of relevant documents, their biodata, and a detailed booklet to the organisation’s office by June 3.

This local deadline is critical for SETVIS to collate and forward the applications to the central authorities within the stipulated timeframe. The organisation plays a role in identifying and promoting deserving individuals from its region for national recognition. Applicants are advised to adhere strictly to the June 3 deadline to ensure their nominations are considered.

The Padma Awards, instituted in 1954, are one of the highest civilian honours in India. They are awarded in three categories: Padma Vibhushan (for exceptional and distinguished service), Padma Bhushan (for distinguished service of a high order), and Padma Shri (for distinguished service in any field). The awards seek to recognise achievements in various disciplines, including art, literature, education, science, industry, social work, public affairs, and sports.

The nomination process involves a rigorous selection procedure. After the closing date for nominations, all nominations are placed before the Padma Awards Committee, constituted by the Prime Minister annually. The committee then makes recommendations to the President of India for the final approval of the awards. The emphasis is on identifying individuals who have made significant contributions to society and the nation, often through selfless service and dedication.

Citizens are encouraged to nominate individuals who they believe have made outstanding contributions. The nomination guidelines emphasize that the awards are not to be treated as titles but as a recognition of unique contributions and achievements. The Rashtriya Puraskar Portal provides detailed information on the eligibility criteria, the nomination process, and the format for submitting supporting documents.

The Ministry of Home Affairs has reiterated the importance of submitting complete and accurate information to ensure the smooth processing of nominations. Applicants and nominating bodies are urged to carefully review all requirements before submission. The early announcement and online platform are part of the government’s effort to democratise the award selection process and reach out to deserving individuals across the country.
