The Taliban’s political office spokesman declared the conflict in Afghanistan to be finished on Sunday and asked for amicable relations with the international community.
In talks with Al Jazeera TV, Taliban spokesman Mohammad Naeem claimed the Taliban did not want to live in isolation and that the sort of control and the shape of regime would be obvious shortly.
Within Sharia law, the group protected women’s and minorities’ rights as well as freedom of expression, according to Naeem.
The Taliban, according to Naeem, want to have friendly relations and are eager to expand many channels of contact that they have already established with international countries.
In an interview with Al Jazeera TV, he remarked, “We encourage all countries and entities to sit with us to settle any disputes.”
Taliban militants stormed Kabul on Sunday, and President Ashraf Ghani departed Afghanistan saying he wished to prevent bloodshed, bringing the militants dangerously close to retaking control of the country two decades after a US-led assault deposed them.
The Taliban’s approach, according to Naeem, did not target any diplomatic bodies or headquarters, and the group would ensure the safety of citizens and diplomatic missions.
Ghani’s escape was surprising, according to Naeem, and “even those close to him did not expect it.”
He told Al Jazeera Mubasher TV, “We are ready to hold a dialogue with all Afghan figures and will provide them the appropriate protection.”
He claimed that the Taliban had seen the rewards of their 20-year efforts and sacrifices, and that they would embrace a policy of non-interference in other people’s problems in exchange for non-interference in Afghanistan.
“We have achieved what we sought, which is our country’s freedom and our people’s independence,” he stated. “We will not allow anyone to use our lands to harm others, and we will not allow anyone to use our lands to attack anyone.”
“We don’t believe foreign forces will repeat their disastrous experience in Afghanistan,” he added.
