A tremendous blaze destroyed their residential residence in Srinagar’s Basant Bagh region to ashes a fortnight before the wedding ceremony, shattering the dreams of twin would-be brides.
The fire started in the early hours of Monday morning.
One of Mushtaq Ahmad Sheikh’s residential houses was burned to ashes in the fire.
Mushtaq Ahmad Sheikh told Kashmir-based news agency KNO that he planned to welcome the guests in the first week of September because his two daughters were getting married.
“All of our dreams have been shattered by the horrific fire. We lost everything in the fire,” he added, adding that the big fire also converted jewellery worth lakhs of rupees and cash to ashes.
He claims that there are no more options and that the family is in despair.
Sheikh, together with his family and neighbours, pleaded with the Lieutenant Governor’s office to assist the beleaguered family at this critical time.
