The Supreme Court stated today that BJP leader Nupur Sharma should apologise to the “whole country” and that she is “single-handedly responsible” for what has been happening in the nation as a result of her comments on the Prophet Muhammad, which have caused significant outrage among Gulf nations and nationwide protests, NDTV reported on Friday.
“We saw the debate on how she was incited. But the way she said all this and later says she was a lawyer it is shameful. She should apologise to the whole country,” said Justice Surya Kant.
The Supreme Court was reacting to Nupur Sharma’s request that all FIRs brought against her due to the comments be transferred to Delhi. Her lawyer claimed that she was under threat.
“She faces threats or she has become security threat? The way she has ignited emotions across the country. This lady is single handedly responsible for what is happening in the country,” said Justice Surya Kant.
