Raqeeq Khan appeals Govt to constitute high level committee to access losses suffered by people in J&K

Demand compensation of Rs 20 lakhs to families lost their loved ones in landslides, flood

 

Jammu and Kashmir Apni Party (JKAP) leader Raqeeq Ahmed Khan has appealed to the Government to conduct assessment of the losses suffered by the people especially farmers in Jammu and Kashmir due to heavy rains from the last 24 hours.

 

“Government should constitute a high level committee to assess losses of the lives, property and cattles for the grant of compensation to the affected families,” demanded Khan.

 

Khan said that the rains have caused extensive damage in remote areas more than towns in Jammu and Kashmir including Poonch district.

 

“There are reports of damage to many roads, bridges, link roads, localities and houses and loss of life in the mayhem caused by the heavy rains,” he said.

 

He said that the teams of officials from tehsil level in the Union Territory should visit the affected villages to take stock of the situation and give some financial assistance in advance to the victim families before the final assessment.

 

“The people who have lost their lives due to floods or landslides should be given compensation a total of Rs 20 lakhs and within two weeks, the government should release the first installment Rs 5 lakhs as compensation for the victim families,” he demanded.

 

Raqeeq Ahmed Khan also expressed grief and sorrow over the death of a local namely Showkat Hussain, Kalarmorah in Mendhar of Poonch district and demanded compensation for his family members.
