CBI raids house of ex-LG Advisor Baseer Khan in Srinagar

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) raided Baseer Ahmad Khan’s home on Tuesday, a week after he was dismissed of his position as advisor to Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha.

According to official sources, a team of CBI officers from New Delhi raided the home of Basheer Ahmed Khan, a retired IAS officer, in Bulbul Bagh Baghat here, accompanied by local police. The raid was underway at the time this report was submitted. More information is awaited.

According to sources, the raids are being carried out in conjunction with a fake gun licence racket. From March 2020, Baseer Khan, who served as an advisor to Lieutenant Governor Girish Chandra Murmu and his successor Manoj Sinha, was relieved after the CBI’s high brass reportedly alerted the Ministry of Home Affairs, GoI, about his involvement in the gun licence racket.

As a result, Baseer Khan was removed from his position as Advisor by the MHA. MHA was even mentioned in the government’s directive to relieve Khan.

“Pursuant to Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India, communication No. 15030/40/2019-J&K dated 4th October, 2021, Baseer Ahmad Khan (Retired IAS:2000) is hereby relieved from the post of Advisor to the Lieutenant Governor, Union territory of Jammu and Kashmir, with immediate effect,” reads the government order dated October 12.
