SRINAGAR: Four individuals sustained injuries on Sunday afternoon in a head-on collision between two vehicles near the Toll Post in Pahalgam, a popular tourist destination in the Anantnag district of Jammu and Kashmir.
Information was available with The Chenab Times that the incident occurred around 2:05 pm when a vehicle, registration number JK02DD-4388, travelling from Anantnag towards Pahalgam, collided with an Etios car, registration number JK14F-8199, which was proceeding from Pahalgam towards Anantnag.
The vehicle travelling from Anantnag was reportedly driven by Ankush Sanday, son of Sanjay Kumar Sanday, a resident of Sidra, Jammu. The Etios car was being operated by Saqib Hussain Sultan, son of Ghulam Nabi Sultan, a resident of Saidkadal, Srinagar.
The injured have been identified as the drivers of both vehicles and two passengers. The passengers included Kuldeep Mandal, son of Naresh Mandal, originally from West Bengal and presently residing at Army BB Cantt, Srinagar, and Seerat Bav, son of Sampath Seerat, a resident of Pune, Maharashtra, who was also residing at BB Cantt, Srinagar.
Following the collision, all four injured individuals were initially transported to the Primary Health Centre (PHC) in Pahalgam for immediate medical attention. From there, they were subsequently referred to the Government Medical College (GMC) in Anantnag for advanced treatment.
Authorities have registered an FIR, numbered 37/2026, under the relevant sections of the law. Police have initiated further investigations into the incident to ascertain the exact cause of the collision. Further details regarding the circumstances leading to the accident are awaited.
