Aryan Gupta, a resident of Ludhiana, Punjab, has achieved the top position in the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET UG) 2026 examination, securing the All India Rank (AIR) 1. The results were announced late on Thursday night.
Information was available with The Chenab Times that Gupta, who trained at Education Square in Dugri, scored 715 out of a possible 720 marks. This achievement places him as the national topper among the more than 22 lakh candidates who appeared for the competitive medical entrance examination.
Gupta described his success as a dream come true. Hailing from a family with a medical background, he attributed his accomplishment to the continuous encouragement and unwavering support from his parents. He stated that his aspiration to become an oncologist and contribute to cancer treatment was significantly influenced by the loss of his grandmother to cancer when he was three years old.
The national topper reported dedicating 16 to 17 hours daily to his studies in preparation for the examination. The family celebrated the milestone, crediting Gupta’s success to his focused approach, hard work, and dedication. Notably, his elder brother had also achieved a commendable rank, securing AIR 54 in NEET the previous year.
Bikram Singh Majithia, a political figure, extended congratulations to Aryan Gupta on his exceptional performance. In a social media post, Majithia highlighted that the success was not only Gupta’s but also a testament to his father’s hard work and efforts. He further stated that the achievement was a matter of pride for the entire state of Punjab.
The NEET UG examination is a crucial gateway for aspiring medical students in India, determining admissions to undergraduate medical courses in government and private institutions across the country. The National Testing Agency (NTA) conducts the examination annually.
