SRINAGAR: Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Kulgam has chaired a joint security review meeting focused on enhancing coordination among police, army, and CRPF forces, particularly in counter-militancy operations and maintaining law and order within the district.
The Chenab Times has learned that the meeting, held at the District Police Office (DPO) Kulgam, deliberated on the prevailing security scenario, emphasizing the need for proactive measures and heightened vigilance to prevent untoward incidents. A significant aspect of the discussions revolved around ensuring the safety and security of minority communities residing in the district.
During the extensive session, SSP Kulgam underscored the critical importance of maintaining robust coordination and professionalism among all security agencies involved in counter-militancy efforts and law and order management. The police chief stressed the adoption of proactive security strategies and intensified surveillance to preempt any potential threats or disturbances.
A key directive issued during the meeting was the implementation of enhanced security arrangements at vulnerable points, vital installations, and areas with a significant minority population. This measure aims to bolster the sense of security among the general public and specifically address the concerns of minority residents.
Furthermore, the SSP instructed officers to conduct regular briefing and debriefing sessions for all personnel engaged in field duties. This practice is intended to ensure that field operatives remain updated on potential threats and maintain a high state of alertness. The meeting highlighted that a strong security grid, complemented by efficient communication and inter-agency coordination, is fundamental to fostering a secure environment for all citizens.
Various strategies were also discussed among the participating officers to augment the counter-insurgency (CI) grid, taking into account the current security dynamics of the region. The security of minority populations was specifically reviewed, with assessments made on measures to enhance their safety and ensure their continued well-being.
The security review meeting was attended by senior representatives from the Jammu and Kashmir Police, the Indian Army, and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF). Participating officials included commanding officers from various Rashtriya Rifles (RR) units, including 1RR, 9RR, and 34RR, as well as commanding officers from CRPF Battalions such as 18, 40, 46, and 163. Additional Superintendent of Police (NHW) Qazigund, Deputy Superintendent of Police Headquarters Kulgam, Sub-Divisional Police Officers from Qazigund and DH Pora, Deputy Superintendents of Police from the Special Operations Group (SOG) Kulgam, Manzgam, Hatipora, and Mirbazar, and DySP DAR DPL Kulgam were also present, along with other senior officers.
