Jammu, September 23: The Special Operations Group (SOG) of Jammu Police has apprehended three individuals alleged to be members of the notorious Khauf gang from the national capital, Delhi. Among those arrested is a key figure reportedly wanted in connection with 13 First Information Reports (FIRs) and previously involved in a significant escape incident.
Information was available with The Chenab Times that the arrested main accused has been identified as Karanjit Singh, also known as “Gugga,” son of Arjun Singh, a resident of Dablehar in R.S. Pura Tehsil. Singh is a wanted individual in numerous cases, including the Gataroo murder case. His alleged criminal activities span charges of attempted murder, assault, rioting, criminal intimidation, and possession of illegal weapons.
Authorities further detailed that Karanjit Singh was previously involved in a daring escape from the R.S. Pura Observation Home. During this escape, he, along with two Pakistani inmates, allegedly assaulted and injured on-duty police personnel amidst firing within the observation home premises. A case, FIR No. 39/2026, was registered at R.S. Pura Police Station concerning this incident.
The operation in Delhi also led to the arrest of two other individuals identified as associates of the gang. Naresh Kumar, alias “Major,” son of Kamal Kumar, a resident of Arnia, is reportedly a close associate of absconder Sunil Kumar, alias “Gokul.” Kumar faces charges related to violent assault, rioting, and illegal possession of weapons. The third arrested individual, Rahul Kumar, alias “Sundi,” son of Bishan Dass, from Makhanpur, Bishnah, is implicated in a case involving the alleged smuggling of narcotics into jail premises and is booked under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act and the Prisons Act.
These arrests are part of an intensified and ongoing effort by the Jammu Police and the SOG to track down absconders and dismantle organized criminal networks operating within the region. The police have indicated that further investigations are in progress and may lead to additional arrests.
