President Droupadi Murmu is scheduled to undertake a visit to Himachal Pradesh from April 27 to May 1 for her annual summer retreat. During her stay, the President will reside at the Rashtrapati Niwas in Mashobra, a scenic location near Shimla.
Information was available with The Chenab Times regarding the detailed itinerary of the President’s visit. The schedule includes a series of engagements across the state, highlighting both cultural and institutional visits. On April 28, President Murmu is expected to attend a banquet hosted by Governor Kavinder Gupta at the Lok Bhavan in Shimla. This event marks an important interaction with the state’s leadership.
The President’s itinerary further includes a visit to Manali on April 29, where she is slated to visit the technologically advanced Atal Tunnel. This visit to the engineering marvel underscores the significance of infrastructure development in the region. The following day, April 30, President Murmu is scheduled to grace the convocation ceremony of the CSK Himachal Pradesh Krishi Vishvavidyalaya in Palampur. This engagement signifies the President’s commitment to education and agricultural advancement.
Later on April 30, the President will host an “At Home” reception at the Rashtrapati Niwas in Mashobra. This event provides an opportunity for interaction with local dignitaries and prominent citizens. The final day of her visit, May 1, will see President Murmu visit the Army Training Command in Shimla before her departure for Delhi. This visit to a key military command highlights the President’s role as the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces.
In preparation for the President’s visit, the Himachal Pradesh Police have enhanced security measures across the state, particularly in Shimla. Over 1,000 police personnel have been deployed in various locations to ensure a secure environment throughout the President’s stay. According to Shimla Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Gaurav Singh, comprehensive arrangements, including anti-sabotage checks, access control, surveillance, route security, and emergency response readiness, have been put in place.
The SSP assured that efforts have been made to minimize inconvenience to the public. While temporary diversions and restrictions will be implemented on specific routes during the movement of the VVIP convoy, there will be no general traffic restrictions in Shimla. Vehicle movement may be regulated for short durations, and heavy vehicles might be temporarily diverted. The public has been advised to plan their travel in advance, adhere to police instructions, and refrain from roadside or unauthorized parking on designated routes. Priority will be given to ambulances and fire brigade vehicles, the SSP added, emphasizing the administration’s commitment to public safety and emergency services.
Hotels and guest houses in Shimla have been instructed to maintain meticulous visitor records and to promptly report any suspicious activities to the authorities. Furthermore, verification of tenants and domestic help has been advised as part of the enhanced security protocol. The police department has expressed full preparedness to ensure the smooth conduct of the Presidential visit and appealed for public cooperation with the administration throughout the duration of the stay. Concurrently, the Shimla Municipal Corporation has undertaken measures to beautify the city in anticipation of the President’s arrival, with decorations enhancing the cityscape.
