20 druggists identified; Be recommended for licence suspension to break the chain: SSP
The fifth Narco Coordination Committee (NCORD) meeting was held here in the DC office under the chairmanship of District Magistrate Vishesh Paul Mahajan to take stock of the efforts made by the designated members against drug abuse in the district.
SSP Abdul Qayoom—the convener of the committee—presented the latest developments and activities taken up in the district by the intending departments. He informed the committee that 256 mass-level awareness camps have been conducted in the district.
As many as 40 cases have been registered against 46 drug peddlers under Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances. A list of 216 persons has been prepared, as per the intelligence report, who are believed to be involved in drug peddling. Their involvement is under verification, and disciplinary action will follow soon.
SSP has further informed that 20 druggists have been identified as being involved in the drug trafficking and will be recommended for suspension of their licences soon.
DM, while interacting with the officers, asked them to run a mega campaign against the drug menace. Use the My Town, My Pride platform for spreading awareness. SDMs and Tehsildars were asked to furnish minutes of the meeting held in this regard and an action taken report to the office of the SSP (Convener).
The meeting was apprised that the Rehabilitation Center is operational in the District Hospital/Associated Hospital GMC Doda.
CMO was asked to introduce a test kit for checking the drug use by the suspects.
DM recapitulated that the war against drugs is a war against the enemies of the nation and for safeguarding our future generations. We must win it, which is possible only when we fight together in a planned manner under the umbrella of the law of the land.
The DC directed the education, health, and police departments to conduct awareness and health checks of students in all degree colleges, higher secondary schools, and high schools under the direct supervision of SDMs and Tehsildars of the area, as the instructions have already been conveyed in the last NCORD meeting. He directed them to complete the exercise before the schools are closed for winter vacations.
Seeking strict enforcement of drug control rules, he asked the ADCs, SDMs and Tehsildars to ensure mandatory maintaining of record of sale of psychotropic drugs and installation of CCTVs by the medical stores.
The DC stressed upon the members to ensure effective implementation of the directions aiming to curb drug abuse in the district.
The meeting was attended by ADC Doda Dr R K Bharti, ADC Bhaderwah Chowdhary Dil Mir, Adl SP Headquater Master Popsy, Adl SP Operations Raj Kumar, ACR Doda Ashfaq Khanji, ACD Doda Phulail Singh, SDM Assar Lekh Raj, SDM Thathri Athar Amin Zargar, SDM Gandoh Arun Kumar Badyal, DFO Bhaderwah, SDPO Bhaderwah, SDPO Gandoh, DSWO Doda, DIO Doda, CEO Doda, CAO Doda, CMO Doda all Tehsildars, Inspector ANTF, and Drugs Inspector Doda. The meeting was also attended virtually by Superintendent NCB Jammu and DFO Batote.
