In March 2026, a substantial amount of ganja was seized from a train in Chennai, leading to an ongoing investigation. More recently, in May 2026, six individuals were apprehended in Namakkal district for attempting to smuggle ganja via train, with 12 kg of the substance seized.
The police have indicated that further investigations are underway to identify the source of the ganja and to ascertain the extent of the network involved in this latest Vriddhachalam operation. The focus will be on dismantling any larger distribution rings and preventing future instances of drug trafficking.
