Srinagar, August 15: Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) president Mehbooba Mufti urged the central government on Saturday to introspect whether India has truly lived up to the ideals enshrined in its Constitution, particularly in the context of national integration and justice.
Information was available with The Chenab Times that Mufti made these remarks to reporters following her attendance at the Independence Day celebrations held at the Bakshi Stadium in Srinagar. She specifically directed her question towards the Bharatiya Janata Party-led government, asking it to consider if the vision of India, as articulated in the Constitution, has been realized after eight decades of independence.
Mufti’s statement came as a response to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s appeal to political parties to support the implementation of the women’s reservation bill without turning it into a political contention.
