Government Appoints Two New Members to Public Service Commission

The Government of Jammu and Kashmir, under the powers conferred by Clause 2 of the Article 316 of the Constitution of India, has appointed two new members to the Public Service Commission for the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir. This notification was issued by the General Administration Department (Services) Civil Secretariat, Jammu on the 11th of April, 2023.

The Lieutenant Governor of Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir has appointed Mr. Sanjeev Gupta, District and Session Judge (Rtd.) and Mr. Tariq Ahmad Khan, Director General (Expenditure Division), Planning (Rtd.) as members of the Public Service Commission. The appointment of these two individuals has been made in accordance with Section 93 of the Jammu and Kashmir Re-organization Act 2019 and S.O. 3937 (E) dated 31st October, 2019, read with Order issued in terms of sub-clause (i) of clause (c) of the Proclamation issued by the President dated 31st October, 2019.

Mr. Sanjeev Gupta and Mr. Tariq Ahmad Khan will hold office for a term of six years from the date one enters upon his office or attains the age of sixty-two years, whichever is earlier.

The Public Service Commission is a constitutional body responsible for conducting recruitment examinations and interviews for the appointment of civil servants in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir. The commission also advises the government on matters relating to civil service recruitment, promotions, and transfers.
