Weekend lockdown has been imposed in Doda district as the situation regarding Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) in and around the District Doda was assessed and it has been given to understand / that there is an increase in covid-19 positive cases in recent days.
According to an order issued by District Magistrate Doda vide order no. 609-40/DM/Doda dated 31-08-2020, there is a general tendency of people to move out during weekends which also leads to crowds in Town areas and other centralized locations which may become vulnerable for the spread of Covid-19; and there are sufficient grounds for proceeding under section 144 of Cr. PC for immediate prevention or speedy remedy as desirable to prevent danger to human life, health or safety & section 34 of the Disaster Management Act, 2005, also empowers the undersigned to issue certain directions for safety and preventing any harm to human life.
Therefore Dr.Sagar D.Doifode, IAS, District Magistrate who is also Chairperson District Disaster Management Authority Doda in exercise of the powers vested in him under section 144 Cr.PC & Section-34 of Disaster Management Act, 2005 ordered the weekend lockdown with following criterias within the territorial jurisdiction of District Doda from 6.00 p.m on Every Friday till 6.00 a.m on Every Monday.
The order further reads that there will be complete lockdown and restrictions on movement of individuals, all type of vehicles including passengers carrying transports and all activities except the movement for medical emergency for which no pass is required. Only local chemist, kiryana, fruits & vegetables and dairy shops shall remain accessible / open for community needs during the said days, while the government employees of essential services, departments, including medical services or such other departments are required shall be permitted to move on production of ID proofs. It further reads that no kind of movement will be issued and there will be no restriction for vehicles carrying essential services.
Timing: From 6.00 p.m on Every Friday till 6.00 a.m on Every Monday.
