Ludhiana, Punjab – Traffic movement in the vicinity of Daresi Ground in Ludhiana will be subject to significant restrictions on the evening of August 14, as authorities implement a comprehensive plan for the ‘Ek Sham Shiv Ke Naam’ religious congregation.
The Chenab Times has learned that police officials have finalised detailed traffic management and security arrangements to accommodate a large anticipated turnout of devotees for the event. The primary objectives of the plan are to ensure smooth vehicular flow, facilitate orderly parking, and minimise disruption for the general public.
Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Gurpreet Purewal and Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP Traffic) Jatin Bansal stated that the convenience of attendees is paramount, while simultaneously maintaining efficient traffic control. A key component of the strategy involves the establishment of a no-vehicle zone in specific areas surrounding Daresi Ground. This measure is designed to enable unimpeded access for devotees arriving at the venue and to prevent potential congestion or overcrowding.
Authorities have designated specific parking zones across various locations to accommodate vehicles belonging to attendees. Separate parking facilities have been allocated for buses and cars. To assist attendees in planning their journeys, a detailed parking map has been published by the police, allowing devotees to identify their allocated parking spots and plan their routes in advance.
The police have issued an appeal to all individuals attending the religious programme, urging them not to park their vehicles along the roads in the vicinity of the ground. Instead, attendees are strongly advised to utilise the pre-arranged designated parking areas. This directive aims to enhance safety and efficiency on the roads leading to and from the event venue.
The congregation, themed ‘Ek Sham Shiv Ke Naam’ (An Evening in the Name of Lord Shiva), is expected to draw a substantial number of participants. The Daresi Ground, a well-known public space in Ludhiana, frequently hosts large gatherings, religious events, and cultural programmes. The scale of such events necessitates meticulous planning by law enforcement agencies to manage the influx of people and vehicles.
This proactive approach by the Ludhiana police underscores the importance of public safety and order during large public gatherings. By implementing these traffic restrictions and providing clear guidance on parking, authorities aim to ensure a peaceful and well-managed event for all participants and residents of the surrounding areas. The success of such arrangements often relies on the cooperation of the public, who are encouraged to adhere to the guidelines issued by the police to facilitate smooth operations.
The implementation of traffic diversions and parking regulations is a standard procedure for major events in urban centres, aiming to balance the needs of the event with the daily commuting requirements of the city. The specific details released by the police, including the parking map, are intended to provide clarity and reduce confusion on the day of the event. Devotees are advised to check these details before commencing their journey to Daresi Ground.
